But no Chestnut?!
We’re going to make this right today with all the best MAC lipsticks that go with the Chestnut lip liner.
But believe me, this cool-toned brown lip liner is so versatile (a bit like Nightmoth, described as a darkened plum) that you have plenty more possible combinations to create.
All you have to do is know how to blend, especially when you reach out for a light nude MAC lipstick to wear with Chestnut!

The truth is, I worked for MAC Cosmetics only for over a year, but it stayed.
The knowledge and the passion for these products in particular stay.
They never truly leave you, because MAC is a makeup brand made for every type of skin tone, every skin color and undertone.
And once you go MAC, you can never go back (what a pun!).
So let’s get on with all the best MAC Chestnut lip liner and lipstick combinations, and find you beautiful nude, pink, red, brown and mauve lipsticks to wear with this incredible liner!
Best MAC Chestnut Lip Liner & Lipstick Combinations: Whirl
First up, quite obviously, you have the Whirl lipstick.
It’s described as a dusty rose lipstick, is completely matte, and does look amazing whether you have fair skin with cool undertones, Indian skin, or medium skin.
Whirl is one of the best MAC lipsticks for Chestnut, simply because you can create a nude ombre lip with both on medium to dark skin tones.
On pale and fair skin, the combo will obviously look darker.
On my fair olive skin (NW15 in MAC foundation), the Whirl lipstick looks very cool-toned, and with Chestnut, the combination is so powerful I have to go quite nude on my eyes.
Some blue pastel eyeshadow or lavender eyeshadow would look cool with that combo, if you’re the kind of person on whom the Whirl lipstick tends to look cool-toned as well.
On medium to dark skin, I’d probably even apply the MAC Chestnut lip liner all over the lips, dab a bit of the Whirl lipstick, and go full-on with the eyes with some ultra metallic eyeshadow.

Best MAC Lipstick & Lip Liner Combos with Chestnut: Creme in Your Coffee
The MAC Creme in Your Coffee lipstick is part of the Cremesheen range, which offers a balmy finish and boasts some of the most hydrating MAC lipsticks, if you leave aside the Lustreglass range.
The color is completely aptly-named; Creme in Your Coffee is that mix of brown and beige with a touch of pink in the color.
Probably one of the best MAC lipsticks for Indian skin, it also looks incredible on olive skin, dark skin, and tan skin.
Very creamy too, so what I would do is apply the Chestnut lip liner all over my lips and dab Creme in Your Coffee all over.
Since the lipstick is so creamy, both colors will mix, and you’ll end up with a kind of brownish mauve color.
Or just apply Creme in Your Coffee almost all over your lips, leaving out the edges that you’ll redefine with Chestnut.
Once this is done, blend the lipstick towards the lip liner, and you’re done!

Best MAC Chestnut Lip Liner & Lipstick Combinations: Antique Velvet
Clearly, one of the best MAC Chestnut lip liner and lipstick combinations is with Antique Velvet.
I told you about this one many, many times here before.
Antique Velvet and Whirl were my first purchases from MAC Cosmetics, after I got gifted the beautiful Captive satin lipstick.
And I love this deep brown lipstick, since it has a slight tinge of red in the color that means on my olive skin, it looks banging.
Whether you’ve got fair skin with warm undertones, are black, Latina or Asian, you’ve got the perfect recipe to an incredible brown combo here.
And if you do think that Antique Velvet is indeed one of the best MAC lipsticks to go with Chestnut, know you can also pair the lip liner with Consensual and Film Noir.

Best MAC Chestnut Lip Liner & Lipstick Combinations: Brave
The first time I wore the Chestnut lip liner with a pink lipstick was actually with Candy Yum-Yum – a colleague of mine wanted to prove that you can pair it with anything, and it will work.
And yes indeed.
It did work.
It was amazing.
From that time on, I started recommending pink nude MAC lipsticks with the Chestnut lip liner, and one of the best is the Brave lipstick.
I’ve actually written a full post about the best MAC lip liners for Faux and Brave, if you want to find cool combinations.
For now, just know that you can either create a striking ombre lip look with the Brave lipstick.
Or, apply the Chestnut lip liner all over your lips and allow the pink color of Brave to become something closer to a Soar/Whirl lipstick kind of shade.
And if you want to go for a darker pink, go with the Twig lipstick – Chestnut always looks banging with Twig!

Best MAC Lipstick & Lip Liner Combos with Chestnut: Spice Lipglass
The Spice Lipglass is the only option you have here today which is not a lipstick per se – but it is one of the best non sticky lipgloss choices you have in the makeup world today.
I love it.
I remember distinctly wearing the Spice lip liner and Lipglass combo for days in a row when I used to work at MAC Cosmetics, simply because it is just so beautiful.
You wouldn’t think, but I was actually as smitten with the Spice Lipglass as I was with the Fenty Beauty Fenty Glow Gloss Bomb – that’s how good it is.
If you have rather fair skin, I would probably apply the Chestnut lip liner all over your lips and then coat with the Spice Lipglass.
If you have medium to dark skin, I’d probably apply Chestnut around the edges of your lips, blend out, and then apply the Spice Lipglass.
With that, wear some gold eyeshadow, or maybe even some bright blue eyeliner – that would provide great contrast!
Any way you choose to wear it, it makes for one of the best MAC Chestnut lip combos ever.

Best MAC Chestnut Lip Liner & Lipstick Combinations: Velvet Teddy
The MAC Chestnut lip liner and Velvet Teddy combination is most probably something I’d use on medium to dark skin tones, unless you make Chestnut as invisible as possible on really fair skin.
Chestnut is really cool-toned, Velvet Teddy is a pinkish beige nude color, so both really match.
For this specifically, I would apply the Chestnut lip liner following the outline of my lips, then apply the Velvet Teddy lipstick all over my lips, and blend, blend, blend.
On the eyes, I’d probably just apply some black eyeliner, using either Brushblack or Blacktrack- two of the best MAC eye liners when you want a perfect wing.
And if you don’t want to splurge, just know there are plenty of Velvet Teddy lipstick dupes available on the market!

Best MAC Chestnut Lip Liner & Lipstick Combinations: Yash
If you want the same kind of nude lipstick as Velvet Teddy but find it too pink-toned for you, use the MAC Yash lipstick with Chestnut.
Yash is one of the most underrated MAC lipsticks, and I have always wondered why; after all, the shade is really incredible when you want a neutral nude lipstick.
It reminds me a little bit of the Honeylove lipstick, and to be fair, both shades would look stunning in combination with the Chestnut lip liner.
Follow the same process as with Velvet Teddy, and make sure we see as little contrast as possible between the lipstick and the lip liner, especially if your skin is really fair!

Best MAC Lipstick & Lip Liner Combos with Chestnut: Hug Me
Now, probably one of my favorite MAC lipsticks for Chestnut is the Hug Me lipstick from the Lustreglass range.
Another cool pick could also be the Syrup lipstick, and whether you choose one or the other, you’ll end up with a glossy finish.
And that, friends, looks really incredible when you already choose to go statement with the Chestnut lip liner on fair and medium skin tones.
Just apply Chestnut all over your lips, and coat with the Hug Me lipstick.
Then, you’ve got a really beautiful brown lip perfect to pair with some dark red eyeshadow, especially for people with blue eyes and green eyes.

Best MAC Chestnut Lip Liner & Lipstick Combinations: Fast Play
The MAC Fast Play lipstick is really pigmented and creamy, and is part of the Amplified lipstick range.
If you like that type of really comfortable formula, you should also check out the MAC Love Me lipsticks, honestly – the shade As If I Care would give a slightly similar result.
With such a beautiful berry lipstick shade, you don’t want to hide it, so I would apply Fast Play first, and then draw the outline of my lips with the Chestnut lip liner.
After that, all I would have to do is blend the Fast Play lipstick toward the lip liner, and ensure everything is blended correctly!

Best MAC Chestnut Lip Liner & Lipstick Combinations: D for Danger
I’ll write about the best MAC lip liners for D for Danger later on, but for now, know that aside from the Beet lip liner, Chestnut is another cool option to go with this beautiful raspberry lipstick.
OMG.
OMG, that color.
D for Danger is one of the only matte berry lipsticks from MAC, and I’ve been in love with it since day one.
Completely matte, very longlasting, super pigmented and a deep berry kind of shade – what more could we wish for?
Absolutely stunning when paired with silver eyeshadow on fair skin, and beautiful when you have green eyes as well.
It’s just the perfect MAC lipstick for fall and winter, and make you look super elegant whether you’re 20 or are looking for lipsticks for grey hair and mature skin.

Best MAC Lipstick & Lip Liner Combos with Chestnut: Bronx
Let me tell you this from the get-go – if you like the MAC Chestnut lip liner with the Bronx lipstick, you should also check out the Myth lipstick.
Why?
Because while the Bronx lipstick is absolutely, tremendously, unequivocally stunning, it’s also part of the Retro Matte lipstick range.
That means you can’t go without a lip primer, like the Prep & Prime underneath, without which you can kiss your lips goodbye.
The Bronx lipstick is a light nude lipstick that mixes a bit of pink, a bit of brown and a kind of greige undertone – and wow, when you want to wear a darker brown lip liner with it, it looks good.
But if you tend to have dry lips, try out the Myth lipstick – it’s from the Satin range, so your lips will definitely suffer less.
The advantage of the Bronx lipstick, though, is that it’s almost completely transfer proof – and with the Chestnut lip liner, it makes for a perfect color whether you have dark skin, medium skin or fair skin.

Best MAC Chestnut Lip Liner & Lipstick Combinations: Paramount
The MAC Paramount lipstick is one of the most beautiful oldish brown lipsticks you’ll ever come across, and I stand by what I say.
Part of the Satin lipstick range, Paramount goes perfectly on anyone with skin with warm undertones, from Asian skin to dark skin.
And actually, when I was working at MAC, it was indeed Asian people who would ask for Paramount the most – it does look incredible on that type of skin!
Just shade in the outlines of your lips with the Chestnut lip liner, apply the Paramount lipstick over it, and go again with Chestnut where it’s not so visible anymore, and you’re done!
On the eyes, some coral eyeshadow or even bright orange eyeshadow could look really cool with Paramount and Chestnut – match use the same eyeshadow for the blush!

Best MAC Chestnut Lip Liner & Lipstick Combinations: Sultry Move
I’ve mostly talked about cool toned lipsticks in this guide, haven’t I?
If you want something a little bit more warm toned, a great pick to pair with the Chestnut lip liner is Sultry Move, one of the most wearable MAC Powder Kiss lipsticks.
Really up to you to choose how you want to wear that lip combo – you can either wear Sultry Move on top of Chestnut, or blend it out so much on top of the lip liner that the colors mix.
The amazing thing about the Powder Kiss lipsticks is that they are so versatile you can also apply them as blushes.
In the case of the Sultry Move lipstick, you can wear it as a blush on Asian skin, medium skin and fair skin – and boy, does it look good!
On the eyes? Something warm-toned, like some beautiful coral eyeshadow, and why not a beautiful brown eyeliner too?

Best MAC Lipstick & Lip Liner Combos with Chestnut: Viva Glam 1
Last in our guide, one of my favorite red MAC lipsticks… Viva Glam 1.
There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for Viva Glam 1 – it looks incredible on any and every skin tone.
Don’t believe me?
Try it.
The MAC Viva Glam 1 lipstick has the perfect balance of brown, red and blue that suits everyone from Indian skin to very pale skin.
A beautiful, sophisticated red shade (even more than Russian Red!) and one of the best MAC lipsticks for the Chestnut lip liner.
With this one, I’d probably only shade the outer corners of the lips, dragging the Chestnut lip liner a tiny bit towards the cupid’s bow, and fill it with Viva Glam 1.
I would most definitely use a lip brush for this, as the operation needs to be really neat and precise. But then again, I’d probably use a lip brush for all and any lipstick!
